Beetle Nut Palm (Supari)



Brief Description:
The Beetle nut is erect, solitary, tree which grows up to 25 meters high and is marked with annular leaf scars. The leaves are about 4meters long, with numerous leaf-lets. The male flowers are yellow, about 5mm long. The female flowers borne at the base of the branch in axils are over one centimeter long. The  fruit is void, smooth, 4 to 6cm long, orange or red in color, the pericarp are fleshy and the mesocarp fibrous.
Medical Use:
·         A good laxative.
·         Helps tapeworms and other worms from the body.
·         Acts as a good antiseptic.
·         Promotes menstrual flow.
How To Use:
·         The young seeds are laxative.
·         The mature seeds make a good vermifuge.
·         Powdered nuts are used as an anthelmintic and antiseptic agent.
Parts Used:
Seeds (nuts)
Dose:
Liquid extract, 1 to 2 desserts spoons, in water daily. For powder, use 15 to 60 grams. For worms, 1 to 2 teaspoons of the powered nuts with warm water.
